Why The Flash is
the best new show on television
The
title of the article is all you need to know about what my opinion of the new
shows that have premiered on television this season. The Flash has everything
that you would want in a show. It has action, humor, great special effects. It
has a likable cast which is filled with familiar faces and stunning newcomers. The
familiar faces range from Jesse Martin whom many know from Law & Order as
Detective Green to Tom Cavanagh who played the titular character on Ed, which
ran for four season on NBC from 2000 to 2004. The newcomers that stand out
among the cast are Grant Gustin who stars as the man himself, Barry Allen aka
The Flash and Candice Patton. They have had several roles on other shows from
Glee for Grant Gustin to The Game for Candice Patton. Those are only the actors
who play the main cast. The Flash will have great guest stars from the likes of
Wentworth Miller from the cult classic, Prison Break to Robbie Amell from
another CW show, The Tomorrow People. Not only does the show have great cast
members but it also has a creator with as strong as a pedigree that you will
find. No one has a better pedigree than David Nutter. A man who has had 19 of
20 pilots that he has directed gone to series. The shows include The Flash and
fellow CW and DC Comics series, Arrow. Now that you know what the type of
pedigree that the show has going for it, it’s time to talk about why the show
is so great.
The
main attraction of the show is the quality of which it has already attained.
The series has only aired four episodes so far yet, while watching the show it
feels like it has been airing for seasons already. The Flash has achieved this
quality by the combination of its cinematography, visual effects, and storytelling.
It’s not surprise considering the show as stated before is coming from the same
pedigree as The CW’s sister series, Arrow. Watching Arrow is not a precursor to
enjoying The Flash but it does help. There has already been some crossover
between shows with even more being announced. The only complaint I have so far
is that the villains that have been under-developed and under-utilized. They have
only been used to provide an adversary for Grant Gustin’s Barry Allen and
nothing more. Which actually does not surprise me considering the same thing
happened to during Arrow’s first season. Those of you who watched Arrow’s first
season know that was quickly rectified and I can confidently presume the same
will qualify for The Flash. In the most recent episode the show has already
hinted at future team-ups of some of Barry Allen’s greatest foes. Which should
make any fan of DC Comic villains salivate in anticipation. Other new shows
might have higher budgets, stars with bigger names, and better set pieces but
no show has more heart and tender loving care infused it its being. There is a
reason the show is sitting at 96% on Rotten Tomatoes. Which by the way is the
highest rated new show of the season. As you can see there are many reasons why
this show has struck such a major with chord with me. Hopefully after watching a
few episodes of this wonderful series you will be hooked on it just like I have
been. Most likely than not it will also influence you to start watching its
Sister Series, Arrow. I would high recommend making both shows apart of you
regular viewing habits.
